Inlet

What it receives

Milk or cream from a named vessel or processing module.

Outlet

What it delivers

A stable feed within the receiving machine’s pressure and flow envelope.

Structure and line connections

Choose pump and buffer duties from viscosity, suction conditions, entrained air and permissible shear. Review pipe sizes, dead volume, valve positions and stop/start logic.

Cleaning and inspection interface

Confirm the product-contact circuit, low points, drainage and cleaning return path. A buffer’s spray coverage does not prove that attached branches are clean.

Selection data to specify

Project data required before confirming a model
DecisionInformation needed
HydraulicsViscosity/temperature, flow range, suction level and downstream pressure
BufferingWorking volume, minimum level and maximum permitted residence time
ControlsLow-level protection, interlocks and upstream/downstream stop signals

Application limits

A pump nameplate is not a line capacity guarantee. Excess hold-up and uncontrolled recirculation can change heat history and product quality.

Trial and acceptance evidence

Check minimum and maximum operating conditions, trapped air, drain-down and recovery after an ordinary stop with the intended product.
